JKW Partner Daren J. Layton Admitted to The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel

Tucson, Arizona (April 10, 2025)— Jennings Haug Keleher McLeod Waterfall (JKW) is pleased to announce that Daren J. Layton, a partner with the firm’s estate planning, probate and administration practice, was recently admitted to The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

ACTEC is a highly respected organization of trust and estate lawyers and law professors in the United States and around the world. ACTEC’s peer-elected Fellows are at the top of their profession, committed to maintaining excellence in the trust and estate legal field and to continually improving the practice of trust and estate law. ACTEC Fellows are skilled and experienced in the preparation of wills and trusts, estate planning and probate procedure, and administration of trusts and estates of decedents, minors, and incompetents. 

For over a decade, Daren has focused his legal practice on lifetime planning as well as probate and trust administration matters.  He assists clients in creating and implementing personalized estate plans, navigating income, gift and estate tax issues, business succession matters, and charitable planning. Also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Daren advocates the benefits of working with his clients’ professional advisers to ensure a holistic approach is provided and that each client’s specific goals are communicated and achieved through collaboration.

Daren recently served as co-adjunct professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law for an Estates & Trusts course. He also frequently presents on topics related to estate planning, gift and estate tax issues, business succession planning and charitable giving. Daren is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and its Probate and Trust and Tax Law sections. Additionally, he is a member of the Pima County Bar Association, and a former Professional Advisory Committee member for the University of Arizona Foundation.
